Feature cooccurrence restrictions formulate well-formedness conditions for feature structures used by Generalized Phrase Structure Grammar. As the feature structures in this approach are just sets of feature specifications, it is necessary to block the combination of feature specifications which from a linguistic point of view should not be mixed in the same feature structure.
